Preview: Foodies Festival comes to Canon Hill Park Birmingham! (& ticket offer!)

This Summer, an exciting new food extravaganza – the Foodies Festival – is coming to town! Over the weekend of the 15th-17th of May, The Foodies Festival originally set up in 2005 in Scotland, is taking over Canon Hill Park for a food festival of epic proportions! To date, Foodies has welcomed over 2 million visitors, helped launch hundreds of new businesses and supported thousands of small producers – it promises to be a fantastic day out for the food lover and all the family.

Birmingham’s Michelin-star and top chefs will be taking the stage in the new tasting theatres, pop-up restaurants and there will more street food than you can ‘shake a satay stick at!’

 The Aga Rangemaster Chefs Theatre will welcome Michelin-star chef Glynn Purnell, Matt Cheal of Simpsons, Atkar Islam of Lasan Group who will cook their favourite summer recipes divulge their top tips – now isn’t that a line up made in foodie heaven!

Fans of MasterChef can also watch 2014 winner Ping Coombes cook her signature dishes in the Chefs Theatre and try dishes from her Malaysian Pop-Up on the Street Food Avenue. You can also catch MasterChef 2010 winner Dhruv Baker and finalist Jackie Kearney strutting their stuff too.

Other highlights inlcude the New Wine and Champagne Theatre, and the New Craft Beer Theatre which will be matching foods with locally produced alcoholic and non-alcoholic craft beers and the New Tasting Theatre is offering some weird and wonderful shows such as  ‘How to Sniff Chocolate like a Rockstar’ or  a Chocolate Safari masterclass with Coeur de Xocolat, and local experts will guide visitors through Raw Food, Japanese Soul, Oyster Shucking and Bee Keeping. 
 
The Cake & Bake Theatre will be a must visit for those amateur bakers – visitors can enjoy 3D cake modelling, Chocolate Making Sugar-Craft masterclasses and buy all those essentials in the Chocolate, Cake and Bake Village.

I must say that I’m really looking forward to the Street Food Avenue – offering a huge selection of hot and cold dishes from around the world. Japanese, Thai, Brazilian, Argentinian, Indian, Mexican, French and African are just some of the cuisines visitors can tuck into!

And as if all this wasn’t already enough to keep you going, you can visit over 200 exhibitors in the Artisan Producers Market, where you can meet the producers and sample and buy award winning cheeses, wines, bakes and condiments to take home and enjoy.
